It's sadly Friday - our last full day on Alouette...
We woke early and walked the village of Marseillette before breakfast.
Today we're driving to Carcassonne to tour the medieval village and shop before coming back to the barge for lunch and cruising down the canal to Carcassonne.
It is considered to be the largest and best conserved medieval fortress in Europe. There's a grand citadel, home to a maze of cobbled streets, churches, a castle, towers and ancient buildings.

Throughout the city there are shops and cafes, so we HAD to stop and have a nosh and a sip of local Rose:

Back on the boat these were waiting for us. Kate and Emma have named them Sex on the Barge:
Vodka, cranberry, orange, and Kirsch (or luxardo) with fresh fruit added. SO GOOD!
And we began cruising to our final stop:
We are cruising along for our final mooring the remainder of the afternoon.
Grande Finale gala fete awaits this evening before we say au revoir to Alouette and Brock and Sarah. Doug and I head to Avignon tomorrow morning...
